About Gerard
Gerard is a founding lawyer director of DEA Lawyers.
Gerard has in excess of 14 years experience in commercial law and litigation, and for the past 8 years he has focused on the area of strata and community title and all legal issues arising from this interesting area, in both litigious matters as well as document drafting and advice.
Gerard is admitted to practice in Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia and has handled litigation in the various jurisdictions in NSW, including The Supreme Court, the Land & Environment Court and the Consumer Trader & Tenancy Tribunal. He is a member of the Law Society of NSW, the Institute of Strata Title Management, the National Community Titles Institute and is a member of the Australian College of Community Association Lawyers.
He has presented papers and conducted training sessions for strata managers, experts and fellow lawyers about strata and community title disputes and building defect claims at both state and national conferences.

- The Owners – Strata Plan No 57504 v. Builders Insurers Guarantee Corporation [2008] NSWSC 1285 regarding enforcement of a home warranty insurance claim
- The Owners – Strata Plan No 43551 v. Walter Construction Group Limited [2004] NSWCA 429, regarding building defects
- The Owners – Strata Plan 30695 v. Stratacorp [2005] NSWSC 405, regarding termination of a strata management agreement and the jurisdiction of the CTTT
- Neighbourhood Association DP 285249 & Ors v. Watson & Ors [2008] NSWSC 876 and Neighbourhood Association DP 285249 v. Watson & Anor [2008] NSWLEC 245 being seminal cases in relation to rights and obligations under community and neighbourhood development contracts
Gerard also has experience in drafting documentation, including:
